Referrals & Fees
Referrals
A referral is not required to see a psychologist. You will need a referral from your General Practitioner (GP) or Medical Specialist such as a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician if you wish to access Medicare rebates for psychological services under the Federal Government Better Outcomes Program. If you intend to use your private health insurance to make a claim, a referral is not required, and it is recommended you check with your insurer your eligibility in making a claim beforehand.
Information for Referrers
We value the importance of working collaboratively with referrers and other service providers. Cambridge Psychology can help with accessing psychiatric services, such as day patient psychotherapy groups and has links with Cambridge Clinic, a GP practice specialising in the management of drug dependence. You are welcome to contact us for further information or in speaking with one of the psychologists before considering a referral.
Fees
Individual clinicians set their own fees and reception can inform you what they are. Clinical psychological services are exempt from a Goods and Services Tax (GST). Payment is due on the day of the appointment. The following methods of payment are accepted: Cash, EFTPOS, and VISA/Master Card. This practice also has facilities to help you electronically access your Medicare Rebate at the time of settling your account. Medicare and private health insurance rebates cannot be claimed for the same consultation. Please ensure you have a debit card with you so the refund can be deposited into your bank account. This practice does not bulk-bill under Medicare.
Cancellation Policy
Cambridge Psychology requires at least 24 hours notice of your intention to not attend your scheduled appointment. This allows us to give our valuable appointment times to others waiting for an appointment. Failure to attend or late cancellation may result in a full charge of the consultation fee. This fee cannot be claimed from Medicare or your Private Health Insurance.
Compensation Claims
Consultation fees may be covered in the case of a Workers compensation or motor vehicle injury insurance (Insurance Commission of Western Australia). Please consult with your compensation insurer, medical practitioner or employer for further information.
Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)
Consultation fees may be covered by DVA. Please consult with the Department or your GP for further information.
